CEO Hajime Matsui

Background
After graduating from the Department of Urban Environment Systems, Faculty of Engineering at Chiba University and working at a publicly listed company, Hajime Matsui joined Loftwork Inc. in 2012. In 2017, he founded LAYOUT as an in-house business unit overseeing co-creation facilities and public spaces from planning and design through to operation, serving as its business director. He has been involved in the planning, design, and operation of co-creation facilities such as 100BANCH, AkeruE, SHIBUYA QWS, and the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System's Common Nexus. Since 2021, he has served as a visiting professor in the Department of Spatial Design at Kyoto University of the Arts. In October 2026, he was appointed Representative Director and CEO of Loftwork Inc. He is also a co-founder of FabCafe Chiba and a director of FabCafe Nagoya.

Profile
At Loftwork, Hajime has worked as a producer designing businesses, organizations, and spaces from both creative and management perspectives, creating systems and relationships that bring together people from diverse backgrounds to generate new value.
His work is consistently guided by a core inquiry: What kinds of relationships and spaces should be created in the spaces in between (awai), connecting stakeholders, local communities, and corporations to foster new challenges and value? The co-creation facilities and public spaces planned and operated through the LAYOUT division represent one way he puts this into practice, continually exploring how to implement ecosystems that nurture communities and realize the vision of a place or the purpose of a business.
Since becoming Representative Director and CEO in October 2026, Matsui has expanded this perspective to corporate management, moving between creative practice and business to reshape Loftwork's business portfolio and organization. He strives toward "a world where people can share the joy of imagining and creating as active participants," dedicated to cultivating environments where each individual's CREATIVITY contributes to a better society.
